This fundraiser has been created by Zoe on behalf of her friend Michaela Coy following Michaela’s terminal cancer diagnosis. All funds raised are for Michaela and will be used towards her living and medical expenses and supporting her quality of life.

Just a week ago, healthy and vibrant Michaela (32) was diagnosed with an incredibly rare and aggressive form of sinus cancer.

Her prognosis is devastating. Without chemotherapy, doctors estimate she may have just 3-4 weeks. With treatment, they’re hoping for 3-6 months, with the possibility of up to 12 months.

If you’ve ever had the privilege of meeting Michaela, you’ll know she’s the kind of person who leaves people better than she found them.

She’s the person with endless energy, the biggest heart, and an infectious zest for life. She’s always on the go - working one of her four jobs, training at the gym, riding her horse, spending time at the beach, catching up with friends, or simply making the people around her feel loved. At just 32 years old, she’s lived life wholeheartedly, and anyone who has met her knows just how special she is.

Over the last few days, we’ve seen an outpouring of stories from people whose lives Michaela has touched. People she met years ago have reached out to say they still remember a conversation they had with her, a kind word she shared, or the encouragement she gave them when they needed it most. That’s the impact Michaela has had on so many people.

Giving to others has always come naturally to her. In fact, she recently completed her Diploma of Counselling and had just begun seeing clients this year, finally stepping into what she believed was her life’s calling - helping people heal, grow and feel seen.

There are no words that can truly prepare you for news like this.

Since sharing Michaela’s diagnosis, we’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from people wanting to help. So many have reached out asking how they can contribute, and creating this GoFundMe felt like the simplest way to bring everyone’s generosity together in one place.

We’re creating this fundraiser to help ease the financial pressure that comes with a sudden halt to work and the costs of treatment, but also to give Michaela the freedom to make the most of the time she has. Whether that’s making memories with the people she loves, saying yes to experiences she may not otherwise have the opportunity to have, or simply spending precious time without the constant worry of finances, we want to help make that possible.
