Above is a youtube video thanks to Nathan, farmhand last summer, who made a video of our entire flock of sheep running to a new pasture right around when the drought was beginning to set in.
Last year, Mint Creek Farm experienced a severe drought this year, and the cumulative effects of the decreased rainfall amounts led to several months of low pasture forage growth to feed our grazing animals, notably the sheep, cows, and goats. We are still dealing with the impacts of this drought. As a result, we are still having to purchase hay before the spring pastures come in, and our current cost of hay is approximately $500-$1000/per day to keep our herds and flocks fed. If you’d like to help our farm through this difficult season, please consider donating.
Our community consistently humbles us and we are incredibly grateful for all forms of support, past, present, and future!
