Up shit creek with six paddles
We're just six Aussie blokes with a love of beer, good food, sport and sleep.
But over one night in October we're going to be freezing our butts off for over 15 hours as we compete in the Hawkesbury Classic - an epic canoe race that spans 111km... yes you read that correctly 111km.
The journey starts at 4pm on Saturday the 25th of October and we expect to cross the finish line some time after dawn on the Sunday. Money raised by the Hawkesbury Classic will this year go to this Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation.
Our names are Al French, Andrew Hamilton, James Fox, Karl Ferguson, Ted McGill and Rob Balkin, and between us we have less experience in canoeing than Todd Carney has experience in conventional bathroom etiquette.
So in the name of a good cause, we ask you to donate to what will be one of the greatest physical and mental challenges any of us will ever undertake. As every muscle in our shoulders burns over the gruelling 111 kilometres, as our asses go through a spectrum of emotions during the 15 hour odyssey, as our minds flirt with deliriousness, exhaustion, and insanity, please think of us, and spare a few dollars to this extraordinary endeavour.
