Halifax Magpies RUFC

Halifax Magpies were founded in 2013 by Stuart Hill, Phil Naylor and Graham Smith in Halifax, West Yorkshire. The inspiration for Calderdale’s first mixed-ability rugby team came to fruition after the founders experienced an amazing, mixed-ability exhibition match, hosted by Bumble Bees mixed-ability rugby club. From humble beginnings, Halifax Magpies were born, with one overarching philosophy; Rugby is for everyone. Halifax Magpies grew steadily over the years, under the guidance of their head coach, Stuart Hill. With the support of Halifax RUFC, Pennine Magpies and the wider- community, The Halifax Magpies made their first appearance at the IMART in Edinburgh, Scotland. Halifax Magpies have strong links with many local enterprises and have developed partnerships with rugby clubs that share our values.

Today, Halifax Magpies are headed by Carl Dundavan and his coaching team (Sarah Duffin and Angela Wain). Halifax Magpies have grown significantly in size, playing regular rugby fixtures and training twice a week. Halifax Magpies are proud to follow the traditions of our founding, believing in inclusion, community and connection for all. Halifax Magpies believe in the values of rugby union and strive to give the best experience for our players, supporters and partners.

Rugby is for everyone

We are looking to raise money for new kit, travel costs and enriching experiences for our players.

Thank you,

Carl Dundavan ( Head Coach )
