About two years ago, my brother in law was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and he beat it. He was in remission for one glorious year during which time the financial and emotional stress took a toll on my sister and she was diagnosed with MS in August of 2018. During a follow up appointment in October, we found out that on top of Francine's MS, Joe's cancer has reared its ugly head again and he will be fighting to beat it once more.
Joe is not able to work during his treatments which is very difficult for him because he is so passionate about his job of changing lives through teaching. The first time around they were too proud to ask for help and my sister moved mountains to keep Joe and their 4 kids (Galen, Jack, Ailish, and Luke) above water. This time around, knowing that she has MS we simply can't allow her to bear that burden and trigger another episode.
My sister is an amazing teacher and gives everything she has to her community, the children she teaches, and her 4 beautiful children at home. Her family has been dealt a very unfortunate hand and their positivity, trust in God, and ability to continue to give whatever they can to their community, despite the tight financial times, is quite humbling.
I am here to ask this of you; can you find it in your heart and within your means to make a donation to the Munson family?They have been through Hell and back the past 2 years and now they face yet another up hill climb. Every gift from a prayer, to a get well card, to a monetary donation will be treasured and greatly appreciated.
I know that my sister and her family will continue to live in a world full of strength, hope, and love. Alleviating financial stress means that my sister does not have to work a second job after school to provide for her family. Furthermore, it means that she can spend this beautiful holiday season with Joe while he endures his weekly treatments and with her kids to remind them that life's journey doesn't always make sense but with support and love you can get through anything.
