The Greenwich High School Boys Water Polo Team was founded in 1974 by legendary coach Terry Lowe. Since then, the program has gone 994-204-13 for an 83% winning percentage and produced 109 All-American selections. We had a very successful 2021 season with Co-Captains Mic DiLascia, Paul Laufenberg and Dado Soares leading the team to a 24-4 record. The 2022 Co-Captains Charlie Kosinski and Chase Wilson are hoping to lead another strong season.
Water Polo in Connecticut is unique because it is not an official high school sport in the state so most of the competition requires extensive, full weekend travel to tournaments in California, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Due to the costs incurred, including airfare, bus rental, hotel rooms, and meals, Greenwich Water Polo has an annual budget of $40,000.
However, unlike other sports at the high school, water polo only receives a small percentage of its annual budget from the district. The funding shortfall is covered by local fundraising events and significant parent contributions.
Over the team’s 48-year history, GHS Water Polo has provided hundreds of players and parents with great experiences and memories. We are hoping that friends and alumni can contribute to defray the cost of operating the program and help us keep building the team’s legacy of success.
