Grave marker for Peter Nicol

Peter Nicol, or as most of you would know him better on Twitter: Hapless Pete (@haplesspete) has sadly passed away on 18th February after complications during a hospital surgery.
With this campaign we are trying to raise the money needed to give Peter’s final resting place a grave marker. This is the sad story behind this situation:
We all knew Hapless Pete as a highly witty and active advocate for a round earth. (Incredible that this can be a thing in this day and age.) He always promoted reason and science and made a lot of us aware of the many people out there believing in things like a flat earth, chemtrails, eternal damnation, and that science is the devil.
The reason Peter could do all of this and be a constant beacon for reason in our virtual social world was because, despite being a trained and capable draftsman (he once helped build a to scale V2 rocket), he hadn’t been able to find work for quite some time. This meant that he lived in a friend’s house and struggled to pay for the necessities of life. He also doesn’t have any relatives that could have supported him then or now.
A few days ago he received a pauper’s burial in an unmarked grave in his hometown Ballarat, in Victoria/Australia.
Some of us from Melbourne knew Pete personally, he was a nice and caring guy, but in real life also quite shy and modest. He never asked for much, but we feel that it is only right to ask for a little bit of help and support on his behalf (please spread the word) towards our goal to make sure he gets a decent resting place.
The money raised with this campaign will go directly to the company creating and installing the marker for Pete. Once put in place we will update with a picture from the site.
UPDATE: You fabulous crowd have reached the original goal of $1,500 in a few hours. Allow us to raise the bar a bit, there's more good we can do for Pete and on his behalf. Thank you all so much!
