Hello everyone,
Let me introduce you to Chris Aviado.
Chris is an amateur Powerlifting athlete. Growing up, he wasn't really into sports and it was his shopaholic tendencies that made his wife push him to join a gym.
At first, he had no plans or goals and he felt that going to the gym was more like a social thing. It was not until his daughter was enrolled in a competitive gymnastics program that he became interested in competing. He wanted his daughter to not only enjoy the sport of gymnastics, but to not feel left out when training so hard for a goal.
He started Powerlifting about 5 years ago and started competing in RAW with OPA in 2014. His first competition was at the Toronto Pro Show, when he participated in the bench only category.
In 2015, Chris joined the Master 1 category, at the 66kg body weight division and started competing in all three lifts (squats, bench press, deadlifts). He attended the Toronto Pro Show, the Orangeville Open and the Ottawa Provincials, having achieved both Provincial and National records in all three lifts and totals.
In Ottawa, Chris was the best Masters 1 lifter, with a Wilks of 442. He also got the nickname of Chris 'Go Daddy Go', after his daughter and wife cheers everytime his name was called.
He's currently ranked 6th Masters lifter in all of CPU history.
At this point, the trips to any of the Powerlifting meets are self funded and we're campaigning to raise $2,500 so Chris can attend the National meet, taking place in Regina, Saskatchewan from February 15th to February 20th, 2016. The funds will be used to cover airfare, accommodation and registration fee for this meet.
