Tra Scilla e Cariddi, per gli studi di Vira!

"Where I once saw grey, I now see colour, where I once saw an end, I now see a beginning, and where I once saw no hope, I now see a future". These words are extracted from the "motivational letter" which, together with her academic merits, allowed Vira to win a scholarship at Bocconi University in Milan. Her dream is to return, as a graduate, to a post-war Ukraine and with her acquired skills and academic knowledge help reconstruct her country. The war, however, shows no signs of ending, her young father has been summoned by the armed forces and had to stop his business. The scholarship does not cover board and lodging and despite working 3 evenings a week in a restaurant, from 5 to 11 pm, it is not easy for Vira, who is on her own, to support herself in a big city.

Vira Turchyn is a polite and kind, but also determined Ukrainian young woman who, together with six members of her extended family, we offered help for a few months following the outbreak of the war. After finishing the second year of mathematics at the University of Kiev online from Italy, Vira had the opportunity to follow a preparatory course at Bocconi and thus obtain a scholarship for a "bachelor's" in economics and management, in English.

Please help Vira follow her dream and donate, directly into her bank account. Even as little as 10 € helps her cause. In addition to organizing this "crowdfunding", the undersigned commits himself to swim across the Strait of Messina next summer!

"Dove una volta vedevo grigio, ora vedo colore, dove una volta vedevo la fine, ora vedo un inizio, e dove una volta non vedevo speranza, ora vedo un futuro". Queste parole sono estratte dalla "lettera motivazionale" che, assieme ai meriti accademici, ha permesso a Vira di seguire un corso propedeutico e quindi vincere una borsa di studio presso l'università Bocconi di Milano. Ma la guerra non accenna a finire, il giovane padre è stato di recente convocato dalle forze armate e ha dovuto interrompere la propria attività lavorativa. La borsa di studio non copre vitto e alloggio e per Vira, rimasta ormai sola a Milano (i parenti sono tutti tornati in Ucraina) e che pure lavora più volte alla settimana, dalle 17 alle 23, in un ristorante milanese, non è facile mantenersi in una grande città.

Vira Turchyn è una ragazza ucraina educata e gentile, ma anche determinata che, insieme ad altri sei elementi della sua famiglia estesa, avevamo aiutato per qualche mese all'indomani dello scoppio della guerra. Dopo aver terminato on line dall'Italia il secondo anno di matematica dell'università di Kiev, Vira ha conseguito una borsa di studio per il "bachelor" in economia e management, in lingua inglese. Il suo sogno è quello di ritornare, laureata, in un Ucraina post-bellica e mettere le acquisite capacità e nozioni accademiche a disposizione del suo Paese, come economista o come imprenditrice, per dare una mano nella ricostruzione.

Aiutate Vira a seguire il suo sogno e fate una donazione, che andrà direttamente sul suo conto corrente. Chi scrive, oltre ad organizzare questo "crowdfunding" , si impegna ad effettuare l'attraversata dello stretto di Messina a nuoto la prossima estate !
