GiveHope2020 Campaign - 100 miles for a cause

You may know that Volunteers of America provides a tremendous service in feeding those in need in our community, but did you also know they manage the local crisis line, and an online chat service: www.imhurting.org  to offer support for those who are suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts.  They also support the local 211 line for those needing any of dozens of other services from childcare to financial assistance with rent, and utilities. 

I'm running, walking, maybe even crawling a 100 mile ultramarathon on August 22nd - 8 laps of a 12.5 mile loop - in the beautiful Japanese Gulch; and while this started as a journey for myself, I realized it may also be an opportunity to raise awareness and support for the journeys of anyone who suffers from depression or anxiety, or any other mental health crisis. September is National Suicide Prevention Month. It's also the month that Volunteers of America Western Washington hosts their primary fundraiser of the year, and with Covid-19 they are not able to use rely on that critical event for fundraising. Making things even worse, in the year of Covid, calls to the VOA crisis line are up 66%! So please join me in my journey and help support the journeys of those who are really suffering.
