Hello!
I am fundraising for my Ukrainian refugee friends, Dr. Mohammed Zamorska and his wife, Viktoriia.
Three years ago, they fled their war torn country to make a safer life for their two sons. Despite being an emergency doctor in Ukraine, Mohammed requires further courses to qualify him to meet standards required by the Canadian Medical Association.
Driving a cab 12 hours a day, and with Viktoriia holding down two jobs amounting to 50 hours a week, this young couple are able to pay only the rent on their house, and to provide the bare necessities of life for their two boys. They cannot save the thousands of dollars required for Mohammed to write his exams. As time passes, they are also falling deeper and deeper in debt.
Viktoriia was recently featured on the local CTV news when the network heard the compelling news that Mohammed was working up north, lending his assistance as a paramedic in the forest fires. His work in Winnipeg as a doctor would be invaluable, a great asset in our community desperate for more doctors.
Theirs is a life most of us can't possibly comprehend. Their day starts with Viktoriia phoning a small village in Ukraine to talk to her parents, "to see if they're still alive."
This hard working family who have suffered the cruelty of war, deserving of our help. I hope they get it! Thank you for your generosity!
