Gibbs Needs Our Help

Hi my name is Rebecca and I am raising funds for Gibbs, a young dog with a very traumatic past who needs some training and a visit to a neurologist. Gibbs had a very difficult and traumatic start to life. His mother and siblings were shot and killed, and we are fairly certain that Gibbs suffered some level of physical trauma at the same time, because he has a slightly unstable walk and some eye irregularity. Gibbs survived and went on to live with a couple who kept him crated almost 24/7. When they decided to divorce, their solution for Gibbs was to have him euthanized but fortunately, the grandmother of one part of the couple, felt sorry for Gibbs and took him in. Because she had other dogs who were not friendly to Gibbs, he was locked in a bathroom and occasionally let out for bathroom breaks. The grandmother eventually determined this was not sustainable and reached out to rescues to see if anyone would take him, otherwise he would be euthanized after all. This is where Jen comes in - she is not part of a rescue, just someone with a soft heart for animals at risk who volunteered to foster Gibbs, to try and provide him with love, basic training and the socialization that he had been deprived of for the first full year of his life. He has made big improvements but requires more training that Jen feels she is not equipped to provide, and she would also like to get a neurological consult done as well.
Since his arrival from New Orleans to New Jersey, Jen has shouldered numerous costs for Gibbs herself including vet visits, medications for his anxiety and vaccinations. She has worked with a trainer remotely but has gone as far with it as she can. Unfortunately, the one on one training that Gibbs really needs and which he will receive through Philly Unleashed, is expensive and she could use our help. The first meeting was $155 and the next 4 visits will be an additional $600. We are estimating costs for the neurologist at this time, but that has yet to be scheduled. Gibbs suffers from anxiety and fear when he is away from his safe spot in Jen's home. His interactions with her pets has been unpredictable, which is not surprising given that he spent most of the first year of his life locked up and unsocialized. At the first meeting, the trainer, Peet, described him as a 7 week old puppy in the body of a traumatized one year old dog. Gibbs is smart, but he needs a chance, the chance he was not previously given.
Please donate towards Gibbs training and a proper neurological diagnosis so he can become a happy, confident, successful and well socialized dog. He deserves it after everything he has been through in his short life. Thank you.
