Hello, world we’re back! Even more comical, more controversial, and even more uninhibited inFLUX is bringing their 2021 smash hit to NYC!
Maybe you caught us in Philly where we won the 2021 Fringie for Best Work of Theatre in the Philadelphia 2021 Fringe. Maybe you supported our first run. Or maybe you are just encountering our work. Whoever you are, we would love your support!
What is The Choice?
The Choice is a darkly comical new work of devised theatre from inFLUX Theatre Collective that asks the existential question ‘should we be having children?’ Three performers deliberate in real-time the pros and cons of bringing a child into a misogynist, money-obsessed society on the brink of a climate catastrophe. This award-winning work takes the audience on the wild and absurd journey women go through when considering motherhood, laying bare the contradictory and territorial ways in which society views their wombs.
The Choice serves as Chapter 1 of The Motherhood Project, a decade-long series of performances by inFLUX Theatre Collective. The members of inFLUX - Jacqueline, Christine, and Jacinta - are currently ages 25, 29, and 35, respectively, and are facing down the decade in which their reproductive choices become more important, more scrutinized, and more impactful. In response to these pressures, the company came together to create The Motherhood Project where they will create five live performances over the next decade exploring their evolving relationship to motherhood.
What do we need money for?
We have been accepted into HERE’s Co-op festival in NYC where we will be part of a month of exciting new works from emerging artists. While we are being the most resourceful artists we can be, we are in need of $6,500 to cover transportation expenses to and from New York and payment for our New York production team. We cannot give enough thanks to the group of donors that made the show a reality last fall, and now we are hoping a few more incredible donors can help bring the show to more audiences. We hope you can support us here and spread the word!
What if I can’t give?
No worries! Most importantly, we’d love to see you at the show!! Tickets are available now https://ci.ovationtix.com/219/production/1128177 and we can’t wait to see you!
