Gary Aragon Stroke Recovery

Everyone who knows Gary knows him for his kindness, love for others, that big smile, and passion for spreading God’s word. He’s a father of three great kids, a grandfather to three little ones, the preacher at Southwest Church of Christ, and Annie’s loving husband. Sunday night March 17th Gary began to have symptoms overcome him from what would be found out later was a stroke. The next morning he was taken to a previously scheduled Dr. appointment only to be told to quickly get him to the ER. Once at St. Mary Corwin's ER several tests and scans were done and a blood clot was located in Gary’s brain. It was determined he had already suffered a stroke. The decision was made to take Gary to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs since it is a stroke center. Due to cost concerns the Aragon family wanted to take Gary themselves but the medical team at SMC explained it was better for him to go via flight for life ground transport and so Gary was loaded and taken to Colorado Springs. Once at Penrose Hospital Gary was admitted into the ICU and is currently there receiving treatment. Thankfully Gary is still awake and able to talk and his memory is still in tact. He is still dealing with headaches, nausea, dizziness, and is not able to get up and walk. He does, however, have movement in all of his extremities. The doctors and staff are monitoring the pressure in his brain to make sure it is stable before he can be moved out of ICU. Many have asked on how they can help the Aragon family during this trying time and the most important thing they could use is prayer. God hears and is great and over all. The family however is going to have financial needs between medical bills, transportation via ambulance from Pueblo to Colorado Springs, housing away from home, as well as meals and more. If you’re able to give to them it would help take the stress and financial worry off of their shoulders so they can focus on healing and staying strong.
