Gaia's Heart Needs Your Help and Love

Hola friends & family,

I hope this message finds you well. As you know Gaia is an elderly dog now (almost 13 yrs old). In the last couple of weeks we noticed a decline in her health. She was loosing weight and had shortness of breath. We had to take her to the ER last Thursday night because she was not eating, drinking water nor getting up. The veterinary did xrays and blood work. We found out that Gaia has a severely enlarged heart mainly the left ventricular pressing on the left lung and trachea. Other than that, age and a couple of other conditions that are under control. She was prescribed two medications for the heart and she needs to be under observation to see if there is improvement during the following weeks. This was an unexpected situation. We were able to pay part of the initial bills at the ER and first round of heart meds. But we need help. We would like to provide Gaia the best quality of life possible for the time she has still left with us. We are collecting money to pay for Gaia’s monthly meds needs, which is the new heart meds and her Rimadyl prescription for her arthritis and her prescribed food for her pancreatitis. The estimate is $600 a month. Gaia has been a beautiful blessing to Dia, to me and to everyone that meets her. She came in a crucial moment in Dia’s life (who rescue her as a puppy with four broken legs from a ditch in San Juan). She’s been a great support, source of love, healing and inspiration in my life and for many other people across the continent, from Alaska to Puerto Rico and beyond! For that Im profoundly grateful.
