Gabbie recover from hurricane Ian

My name is Lisa and I am raising funds for one of my best employees, Gabbie. She worked with us at Central Bark Orlando for over a year and just recently moved back to her home town of Ft. Myers in August with her family.

Gabbie, her family and her cats decided to stay at their house during hurricane Ian and ended up finding themselves in a very dangerous situation as Ian headed directly to them. Their house completely flooded and they lost everything. This is part of the story I received from Gabbie herself.

“my phone finally turned back on after being dead. i am now safe and at my bf's parent's house with my cats. i will be honest, it was a close one, i probably should be dead. we took shelter in my attic after flooding rapidly started coming up the yard and eventually filled the whole house. after a few hours in the attic the wind was too severe so we had to find a way down. i then had to swim through my house past all of my floating furniture and i slept on the stovetop as it was one of the few surfaces left above water at that point because it had luckily gone down a bit by then. the water slowly receded throughout the night. most of my belongings are gone. a few things i left on my bed were salvaged but my bed ended up getting picked up and floated around my room so some things fell off. my car was fully submerged so likelihood of it being operational are slim. my mom's house is covered in mud and pretty much everything is damaged. all of that being said, i am just so grateful to be alive and everyone is now safe, including the pets. thank you so much for your concern and reaching out, it means a lot, obviously this isn't how any of us expected things to turn out but more than anything i am just grateful to be living another day. at the end of the day, objects can be replaced but people cannot.”

Gabbie was a fantastic employee who gave her undivided love and attention to the dogs in our care and quickly became part of our family. We would love be able to assist her in this time of need. All donations will be sent directly to Gabbie to help her either get a car, furniture, clothes, or even food for her and her cats - anything to assist in getting her life back.
