The story of this unexpected tragedy
While on vacation 800 miles away from home. My brother Jeff, his wife Kimberly, and their 5-year-old son were on the vacation they took every year for their anniversary.
On Monday, June 27th 2 days after Jeff's birthday Kimberly wasn't feeling very well and decided to stay in while they went to the beach. She told them she loved them and to have fun. Jeff took their son to eat lunch and then they went to the beach where they had fun playing in the sand and snorkeling. After spending 5 wonderful hours together they headed back to their condo. As they walked in, their son was walking down the hall and turned back to Jeff, and said "mommy's sleeping on the floor". Jeff's heart sank as he ran to the bathroom where he found his wife of 4 years Kimberly laying on the floor. He desperately tried to wake her up begging and pleading but Kimberly had already left to meet the Lord.
After hearing of the tragic loss of my sister-in-law, Kimberly's brother and I set up a rescue mission for my brother Jeff and their son. We left that night and drove into the morning. When we arrived I saw my brother standing outside his truck where he had been staying for the last several hours. The image of Jeff standing there trying to keep it together as best as he could is something for me that will never be forgotten. The 800-mile trip home was a difficult one full of lots of hugs and tears. Now it's time for this broken man to make the most difficult decisions of his life. Please help us support and comfort one of the best men I have ever known.
Thank you,
Ben
