Funds for Samantha's Medical Transfer

My sister, Samantha Arruda/Zieler, recently married and was unresponsive the following morning. Three weeks later, she is still in a comatose state. Her husband and three-year-old child can use your help.

She is currently at New Britain General Hospital where she has received terrific preliminary care. However, the doctors are currently baffled by this rare phenomenon. She suffered a diabetic episode which has damaged her Corpus Callosum. That's the part of the brain that connects the two hemispheres. It also is responsible for consciousness.

Our current neurologist says it's a rare condition. After some consultation with other doctors and neurologists, it has been suggested we transport her to Yale/New Haven Hospital for further treatment.

Insurance is not willing to cover the transportation costs from hospital to hospital. The goal of this page is to help get her where she has the best opportunity to heal.
