Funds for Katie

Donation protected
This is a story about our good friend Katie.

She's had a challenging year with a number of serious medical issues. Her baby girl Spencer was born 10 weeks early which resulted in her spending the first 12 weeks of her life in the special care nursery and had to overcome a number of health issues in order to survive. Due to the nature of Katie's pregnancy and Spencer's birth, Katie became very ill and was very lucky to survive.

After both Katie and Spencer started turning corners and improving in their health, Katie became unexpectantly ill on 14 October 2016 and was placed in an induced coma with acute liver failure and her family was told to say goodbye as there was no chance of survival.

Fortunately on Monday 17 October a donor liver became available and Katie was able to be given a transplant.

As Katie was so unwell, she has a longer road ahead of her for a successful recovery. Due to having to stay in hospital in another State, her husband Josh and baby Spencer have had to find accommodation close to the hospital at a cost of $4,500 for 28 days. Due to the nature of Katie's transplant they are unsure how long she will need to be in Sydney for so the cost of accommodation will continue to mount, along with the cost of living expenses including their current committments in Canberra like rent, household expenses etc.

Any assistance to help them get through this unexpected and long recovery will be well recieved and met with eternal gratitude.

Thankyou in advance,

Jo and Mercy
