Fund the Short Film "Safe Space"

Hi, my name is Shira Chait, a colorist and independent filmmaker originally from New York, who's currently living and based in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Safe Space, my second short film, tells the story of a single night on a Birthright trip as the group spends this time in the Israeli desert, at Kfar Hanokdim. During this night, Hili, the film's protagonist, comes to terms with her identity as an Israeli and an American, while navigating the limits between the two worlds. For her, this trip becomes the ultimate distillation of her experience in life, while also opening her eyes to the empowerment and sense of identity and belonging it gives to her American peers.

A completely independent production, the film is slated to be distributed to festivals and audiences around the world, as well as being an important artistic milestone inside of my portfolio as a filmmaker and director.

The film is truly a passion project, and all the outstanding team members that have joined to make this film come to life are dedicated members of the professional and academic film world and volunteers. Therefore, all funds will be used for the film's production, with absolutely no personal monetary gain for myself.

הסרט הקצר השני שלי, מקום בטוח, מספר את סיפורו של לילה בטיול תגלית במדבר יהודה, בכפר הנוקדים. במהלך הלילה הזה, הילי, גיבורת הסרט, משלימה עם זהותה כישראלית ואמריקאית, תוך כדי ניווט הגבולות בין שני העולמות. עבורה, הטיול הזה הופך לזיקוק האולטימטיבי של החוויה שלה בחיים, תוך שהוא פותח את עיניה להעצמה ותחושת הזהות והשייכות שהוא מעניק לחבריה לקבוצה האמריקאים.

ההפקה עצמאית לחלוטין, והסרט מיועד להיות מופץ לפסטיבלים ולקהלים ברחבי העולם, בנוסף ללהיות אבן דרך אמנותית חשובה בתוך תיק העבודות שלי כיוצרת קולנוע וכבמאית.

הסרט הוא פרויקט הנעשה עם המון תשוקה ואהבה למדיום, וכל חברי הצוות המצויינים שתרמו לסרט הזה להתעורר לחיים הם עובדים מסורים בעולם הקולנוע המקצועי והאקדמי, ומגיעים כמתנדבים. לכן, כל הכספים שיגויסו ישמשו להפקת הסרט, ללא שום רווח כספי אישי.
