Freeze Eggs to Preserve Fertility After Cancer

Hello friends! My name is Olivia Fondy. I am a 22-year-old college student currently residing in my beautiful hometown of Fort Collins, Colorado. I am studying communication and history, and work for the University's Student Disability Center. I hope to one day work with young adults living with chronic physical and mental illness as it has been something I've dealt with most of my teenage and adult years and feel very passionate about.

When I was 16 years old I was diagnosed with a rare type of blood cancer known as Acute Myeloid Leukemia. After living and being treated at Children's Hospital Colorado for eight months, enduring grueling rounds of chemotherapy and several narrow escapes with death, I was fortunate enough to survive the ordeal and am happy to say that I have been cancer-free for five years!

Despite being blessed with the remission of my cancer, my body has still been greatly impacted by the effects of the chemotherapy. In November of 2023, I found out that I have entered into perimenopause (The first stages of menopause,) and that my body’s egg reserve is rapidly declining. After careful consideration and meetings with my wonderful care team, I decided that it was in my best interest to begin the process of freezing my eggs so that I may one day have the chance to start a family of my own.

Due to my lower egg reserve, achieving the collection of enough eggs to give me a chance at successfully conceiving one day, I will likely need to undergo three to four rounds of egg freezing. Between medications and the procedures themselves this will likely cost up to $30,000.

My parents have been beyond incredible and supportive throughout all of my health issues in the past few years and have sacrificed so much time, money, and energy to help me regain my health. This part of my health journey is no different. I am setting up this GoFundMe in hopes of relieving some of the financial burden off of their shoulders. Which is why I need your help!
