The year I married my husband Nate, I was diagnosed with Kerataconus- a rare degenerative eye condition that affects about 200,000 Americans per year. (See www.nkcf.org)

When first diagnosed in 2014, the condition had not progressed enough to qualify for a treatment called corneal cross-linking. Now it has. If this procedure fails, corneal transplants will be needed.

Cross-linking arrests further degeneration of my eyes. While FDA approved, insurance does not cover this cross-linking procedure. It costs $4200 per eye plus $700 for post op medical drops and requires two separate procedures.
My condition has advanced and now I qualify. Since my most recent meeting October 18th with Dr Rajpal, while my condition is advanced keratoconus, it was recommended to schedule the first procedure late this year/early next.

Funds are needed ideally by the end of 2016. This will allow recovery time needed before scheduling the second procedure, even now as I begin my new admin position at Children's Hospital in Ohio.
For now, preserving what vision I have left is the focus of my life. My career goals, family and life goals all are affected by the outcome of this procedure and your financial support.

Right now, your continued efforts in sharing this campaign with individuals and organizations remain essential to fund-raising efforts.
Let's all keep it moving forward!
