On Halloween 2024, my nephew Oliver, 6, lost his mom, my beautiful sister Judy.
All of us in the Ridenour and Adams families are struggling with this enormous loss. But we know without a doubt what Judy wants for Oliver: all the love, support and opportunity that we who remain have to give, now and in the future.
Oliver was the light of Judy’s life and the focus of her every hope and dream. Just a few months ago she and his dad Ethan placed Oliver in an excellent public school to start first grade, a warm and friendly environment where he can thrive socially and academically.
Now, Oliver is going to reach life's milestones without his Mom. She won't be able to host birthday parties or put presents under the Christmas tree. When Oliver graduates, gets married or has children of his own, he won't have Judy there to share his joy. While we can't ever make up for that, Oliver is surrounded by people from both sides of his family who love him, and a community that wants to help him to have every opportunity that Judy wanted to provide.
We have set up a scholarship savings fund in Judy’s memory to benefit Oliver. Some of you have already donated directly; this page is for friends and family who would like to make a contribution online. All donations will earn interest and will be available for his educational needs, whether those be college tuition and room/board, vocational school, apprenticeship or something else when the time comes.
I know I speak for Judy when I say thank you - to all of you who have reached out; who have inquired about Ollie’s care; and who contribute any amount for his future.
As Judy would say, “Love and light” —
