FNC Nepal Flood Relief Appeal 2026
On 26 August 2026, devastating flooding and landslides struck parts of Nepal, causing tragic loss of life, displacement and extensive damage to homes, roads, bridges and other essential infrastructure.
Communities affected by the disaster are facing urgent humanitarian needs, including shelter, food, clean water, medical assistance and other essential support.
Who we are
This fundraiser is being organised on behalf of Folkestone Nepalese Community (FNC) CIO, a UK registered charity based in Folkestone, Kent, United Kingdom.
Registered Charity No. 1193139
The fundraiser is being coordinated by FNC Chairman Capt (Retd) Suman Chandra Rai, on behalf of the charity.
FNC works with the Nepalese community and the wider community across Folkestone and Hythe. Many of our members and their families have close family, cultural and community connections with Nepal, and the devastation caused by this disaster has deeply affected our community.
Why we are fundraising
Following the disaster, FNC convened an emergency meeting on 29 August 2026 involving FNC representatives, local councillors and community supporters.
The meeting agreed to establish an emergency fundraising appeal to bring together the people of Folkestone, Hythe and the wider community in support of the humanitarian response in Nepal.
This fundraiser is not being raised for any named individual, family or private beneficiary in Nepal. It is a community-led humanitarian appeal, and the money raised will be transferred to a recognised humanitarian organisation.
How the funds will be handled and used
Donations made through this GoFundMe fundraiser will first be received by PayPal Giving Fund UK, which will grant the donations to Folkestone Nepalese Community (FNC) CIO.
Neither the fundraiser organiser nor any individual FNC member will personally receive or withdraw the donations.
Once the funds from this appeal are received by FNC, all funds granted to FNC from this appeal will be transferred to the British Red Cross to support humanitarian relief for people affected by the flooding and landslides in Nepal.
If the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) launches an official appeal specifically for this disaster before FNC transfers the funds, FNC will instead transfer the money raised through this appeal to that DEC appeal.
This arrangement was formally agreed at FNC's emergency meeting on 29 August 2026.
The British Red Cross or DEC will determine how the funds are used according to humanitarian priorities and the needs of affected communities. This may include support such as emergency shelter, food, clean drinking water, medical assistance and other essential humanitarian relief.
FNC will not make direct payments from this fundraiser to individual people or families in Nepal.
The FNC emergency fundraising campaign will run until 30 September 2026. Once the campaign has closed and the donations have been received by FNC through PayPal Giving Fund UK, FNC will arrange the transfer of the funds to the agreed humanitarian appeal.
A separate initiative may be considered by FNC in the future for longer-term rebuilding and recovery. Any such initiative would be separate from this emergency GoFundMe appeal.
