Flood Recovery for Kathy Joy Hansen
Donation protected
Beloved community member Kathy Joy Hansen lost everything to flooding due to the recent storms in California. The Santa Cruz mountains, where Kathy resides, were hit particularly hard, and the place where she was living flooded badly, destroying her car, her home, and everything she owned within it.
She is a wonderfully nurturing and loving person who has helped many in their time of need. She could really use our help now.
We are asking for $7,030 to cover the following expenses:
- $1680 to cover the temporary cabin she is renting until she can find more permanent lodging. This amount covers 2 weeks.
- $3000 for a deposit on a new place.
- $1000 to replace her clothes, all of which were lost in the flood, save the suitcase she had with her visiting family for the holidays.
- $350 for car rental for 2 weeks. (Insurance should cover the loss of her car so she can replace it, but they take their sweet time).
- $1000 for the things we aren't thinking of; all the little odds and ends that make a life. Like groceries, as she's had to take time off of work to sort all of this out. Her bank account was running on empty when I talked with her the other day.
Asking for help can be really hard. Let's make this a little easier for her and help her proactively.
