My name is Tsenam, co-founder of KIMA Network. I was born and raised in Syabru Besi, Rasuwa one of the communities devastated by the flooding. This is the place that raised me, and it remains deeply personal to me.

As one of the co-founders of KIMA Network, I want to use both my connection to this community and our organization’s resources to help support some of the children most affected by this disaster.

KIMA Network is raising funds to support school-age children in Syabru Besi, Setang, Timure, and surrounding communities affected by the flooding.

Because search and rescue efforts are still ongoing, we do not want to make assumptions about any child’s family situation. We continue to hope that missing parents and loved ones will be found and reunited with their families.

We are currently in the process of gathering information on parents lost in this disaster whose children have been left alone in boarding schools in Kathmandu city, with nowhere to go. We’ve already contacted school principals, and 17 children have been identified so far as left without their parents. We expect more data in the next 5-7 days.

As the situation becomes clearer, our focus will be on children who are left without parents or stable caregivers, helping them stay safe, supported, and in school.

We want to be there for them not only in the immediate aftermath, but in the months and years that follow.

For any child who is ultimately left without parental care, surviving the disaster will only be the beginning.

They will need stability. They will need an education. They will need a safe place to live. And, most of all, they will need the reassurance that they have not been forgotten.

Funds raised will help provide:

• Safe housing, food, clothing, and everyday necessities

• School tuition, uniforms, books, and educational expenses

• Ongoing living and caregiving support

• Longer-term assistance for children left without parents or stable caregivers

Our commitment is not only to help these children through the immediate crisis, but to help give them the stability, education, and support they need to move forward.
