Hi everyone,
For those that are new to our story, hello *wave* my name is Jayme, I am a 34 year old disabled/chronically ill dog mom, trying to navigate homelessness. To say the last two years have been absolute chaos is an understatement. From hotels, to tents, to misc spaces that we’ve made the best of, we have been very displaced but are still fighting.
Both Winston and I have very complicated health issues, which has made this wild ride that much more challenging. As the Midwest winter approaches, I am yet again met with trying to scramble to keep us somewhere safe. We were able to stay out of the heat during summer thanks to all of your inane generosity. I wish I could say that this time has been what we needed to find a permanent solution, but it's sadly far more complicated than that given the rising homelessness population and a system that's built to fail.
$11,600 of the current amount that was raised over the last six months has kept us afloat, and will continue to do so throughout November. I will be posting a Price breakdown with receipts soon for full transparency. After scrounging for discount codes whenever I could find them, the hotel has cost us on average a little over $2K per month, which you entirely funded ❤️ However come December 1, that money will have been spent, every cent went towards hotel costs, gofundme fees, and moving expenses. I just wanted to come on and clarify why you will see the goal increase this month, despite it looking like we already raised well beyond what it was originally listed at.
I truly am sorry to have to be coming back on here asking for support, it feels wrong after everything you all have done for us. I am beyond appreciative for all the love and support that we have been shown during this difficult period of our lives. Thank you endlessly to everyone who has and continues to help us keep a roof over our heads. I will never be able to put into words how much it means to me.
Updates to come,
Jayme & Winston
