Fighting homelessness amidst Midwest heat
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
For those that are new to our story, hello *wave* my name is Jayme, I am a 34 year old disabled/chronically ill dog mom, trying to navigate homelessness. To say the last year and a half has been absolute chaos is an understatement. From hotels, to tents, to misc spaces that we’ve made the best of, we have been very displaced but are still fighting.
Both Winston and I have very complicated health issues, which has made this wild ride that much more challenging. As the Midwest summer weather sets in, I am scrambling to keep us somewhere safe while the heat is at its worst. Multiple disorders of mine put me at high risk of heat stroke and various other life threatening events, so our only option right now is to remain in an air conditioned hotel.
The current goal listed would cover all hotel costs through summer (hotel payments started June 21st), as well as the GFM fees. If we manage to go above the goal, I will be able to secure housing for us in the colder months to come.
I am beyond appreciative for all the love and support that we have been shown during this difficult period of our lives. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to help us keep a roof over our heads. I will never be able to put into words how much it means to me.
Updates to come,
Jayme & Winston
