What we are doing -
Like many things, the pandemic has put a stop to our first ever season as a team, in the absence of real game time the majority of the team have made a conscious effort to stay fit during the different “lockdowns” we have all experienced.
This time we have decided to try and do some good for our local community whilst keeping fit.
25 players (and some wags and kids) have pledged to cover different distances during the month of February, some covering over 100km single handedly and the novice runners amongst us committing to smaller distances, together we pledge to run a combined distanceof over 1000km, throughout the month of February.
A full list of everyone’s distance will be posted later, in the event of an injury that persons distance will still need to be covered by the rest of the team to prevent any short fall.
The reason -
Our club captain Garvin Snell (you may have seen him on the tele) runs a campaign called “No shame in running” which aims to reduce knife crime and violence amongst the youths of our community and hopefully further a field.
The money raised will go towards building a wall inside the campaigns base at The Hanworth centre, which will enable Garvin and his team to run more frequent sessions without effecting the operations of the nursery hat shares the building.
Some of the lads have set real challenging targets so please don’t underestimate the effort simply because it’s a team effort, your generosity and kindness is greatly appreciated and on behalf of Feltham United Vets and No shame in running, we thank you in advance.
