Scott Bardwell is a firefighter/emt who has fought the Wallow fire, Whitewater-Baldy Complex fire, and the San Juan fire. He is also a communications manager for a company that sales, installs, and services public saftey radios for the local police, fire, and EMS departments. He is a devoted and loving father and husband, and a proud member of the White Mountain Community.
Scott was diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera in 2013 after experiencing a spontaneous splenic rupture that nearly killed him. Since the splenic rupture, he has been hospitalized 3 additional times for related complications and has been put on 4 different medications. Without insurance, we have been struggling to pay these growing hospital bills while also paying a local doctor to treat him.
Despite our efforts his condition has worsened. Not only are doctors unable to stabalize his blood levels, which has taken a large toll on his organs, but they have been unable to shed much light on his disease.
Polycythemia Vera is a rare blood disease that requires a specialist in order to recieve proper care. The Mayo Clinic in Scottdale is our best option and has offered to treat him as early as October 21st. with a $5000.00 retainer. Between the emergency medical bills, and the local doctor bills, we are buried and unable to come up with these funds on our own.
Anything will help and we thank you all so very much!!!
