Escape From New England to be with my partner

Donation protected
Hello, I'm here to ask for help getting a trans couple who have faced a lot of hardships to move closer together so we can live happier, safer lives.

I'm Casey, better known by my internet handle, Fiendly, the name I use when creating YouTube content. I am trans (nonbinary, they/them pronouns), currently living in Connecticut, and I'm in a relationship with another trans person, Bec. Bec lives in North Carolina, and we'd like nothing more than to close that gap by moving me over there. I have no friends or family in my area, and my partner is disabled, so we would both benefit from the local support we could provide each other. Also, the cost of living where I am is astronomical, making my relocation to NC much more sustainable in the long term.

The benefits of this move are numerous, and it's been a goal I've been working towards for quite some time. In fact, I visited North Carolina to try and find an apartment once before. Unfortunately, this was during the last week of March 2020, the week during which the COVID-19 lockdowns began. That trip was a bust, but at least I was able to get a first-hand idea of what will be required for this relocation. Here's an itemized breakdown of the steps involved in moving and their associated costs:

First, I have to spend about a week there looking at apartments for rent, which will be towards the end of February and will cost about $1000 (for bus travel + car rental + hotel stay). When an apartment has been locked in, I'll need to pay the first month's rent and some kind of deposit, usually in the amount of another month's rent. Typical rent in the area I'm looking at is $600-650 a month, which we'll double to account for the deposit, then round down to an optimistic $1000. Then, when my current lease is up, I'll have to move everything I own to the new place. I have so few belongings that I hope to be able to handle this aspect by myself using a U-Haul, which will cost about $750. GoFundMe takes its processing fees from the funds raised, which is variable depending on how many individual donations are processed but is at least 3% of the $2750 needed, which amounts to nearly $100. This leaves a small buffer of $150 to go towards miscellaneous costs.

I'm currently working a day job and putting all my free time into my monetized YouTube work, but most of what I make from these sources goes towards survival funds. We'll need all the help we can get to cover the costs listed above, and in the unlikely scenario that we exceed our goal, it'll all become further survival funds. Bec and I are both very excited to start a life together, so we're extremely appreciative to have your consideration, and if you can spare it, your generosity. Thank you.
