Emilee & Anton Adopt a Baby

For as long as either of us can remember, we’ve assumed our future would involve a houseful of goofy little kids and some puppies. We have the two best dogs in the whole world, but after a pregnancy loss and a year of unsuccessful fertility treatments, we’ve had to readjust the way we fit kids into the vision we have for our family.

We always daydreamed about adopting kids, so it wasn’t a huge adjustment when we decided to stop the fertility treatments and pursue adoption instead. What we weren’t expecting was the cost. Our plan is to adopt an infant in the United States, and our adoption expenses will include things like our state mandated adoption education, adoptive parent reading materials, home study, the creation of an adoption profile for Anton and me, travel expenses to the state in which baby is born, agency fees, pregnancy expenses for our baby's birth mom, and post-placement visits with our social worker, among plenty of other steps along the way. Our projected cost will fall somewhere in the range of $30,000-$40,000, depending on the requirements of the state we adopt from. Anton is a band teacher and I'm a legal assistant for the county, so as you can imagine, our rainy day fund is a few dollars short of $40 grand. :) 

As hard as it is to ask for help where money is concerned, we need all the help we can get if we're going to pull this off. Long story short, we are hoping to raise some money to put toward these adoption expenses, and some of our incredible friends and family in are already asking how they can help.
