Hi, my name is Brooke, and I am fundraising for my friend Mael.

Mael is one of the kindest humans I know and truly needs our help. They have consistently shown up for their friends, family, and community. They are well known for their time spent volunteering with vulnerable populations in our Edmonton communities. Now it's time for us to show up for Mael.

Recently, Mael was on a trip to the Yukon to learn about environmental sustainability with the HOWL program. During this trip, they experienced a rare and severe side effect of their medication, which resulted in them being hospitalized in the ICU in Whitehorse. Their medical condition is not stable enough to fly commercially, and a Medevac is required to transport them to Vancouver, where a specialist is available. This is where your help is needed. A medevac flight is $40,000. Additionally, Mael is currently alone in Whitehorse with no family or community to be with them. Funds will also be used to ensure that I can be with Mael through this very scary time and escort them on the medevac, as well as for food and housing.
