Hi, my name is Ellie. I’m 19 years old. And I have Crohn’s disease. An incurable gastrointestinal/ autoimmune disorder. I was diagnosed when I was 7 years old.
Throughout my life I have been in and out of hospital. My longest and toughest admission was for 18 months. I was on chemotherapy for my Crohn’s (methotrexate) that caused me to lose all my hair and eyelashes.
I have been tube fed countless times throughout my journey. Both into the bowel. And into the stomach.
I have had 2 major bowel surgery’s to remove overly diseased parts of the bowel. And a bowel obstruction.
Since my first surgery I have been living with constant pain. 24/7. No matter what I do. I’m in pain. I wake up during the night in pain. It can make day to day tasks difficult.
Then theirs the social impact it has had. I am autistic but because I missed so much school. Since I was 7. I’ve struggled to make and maintain friendships.
Despite this, and the detrimental impact on my mental health. I have decided to try and raise some more money for Crohn’s and colitis UK. In the hope that this money. Funds vital research and support. So one day, we will find a cure.
Thank you to friends family and everyone else for your support xxx
