Wendy Shulins-Briggs is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Brenda Patrick and the Maestas Family.
Roberta "Berta" Maestas, Daughter of Brandie and Trevor Maestas, granddaughter of Brenda and David Patrick, received her Angel Wings after a two and a half year battle with Osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer.
Berta played the Cello and loved being on the Volleyball team at Richland High School. At the age of 14 and in her Freshman year, she started treatments at Sacred Heart in Spokane in January of 2019. While she under went many months of chemotherapy and multiple surgeries, her family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House. More aggressive treatments began to include radiation and genome therapy.
After being accepted into an immunotherapy study, her family moved to Houston Texas in August of 2020. While Berta and her family fought tirelessly and endlessly, more tumors began to grow. She passed away in her sleep at home on Sunday, June 13, 2021.
Berta was 16.
Now it is time to bring her family back home. We are asking for your support to help with Berta's requested services and her family's move back to the Tri Cities. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated and much needed.
