Help Kerala - Kerala Flood Relief Fund.
The south Indian state of Kerala is struck with a massive and devastating flood.
The state received over 12 inches of rain in 24 hours. Shutters of 35 dams were opened at the same time. All the rivers flooded and there were around 500 landslides reported. All 14 districts of the state were on red alert. The 4th busiest airport of India was flooded and closed for weeks.
Over 483 people and 12000 animals died; at-least a million people were evacuated; hundreds of villages have drowned; 1000s of homes and over 7000 miles of roads are destroyed and damaged; over $3 Billion US dollars property damages are estimated so far.
Most of these people, lost their entire savings, home, land, vehicles, farms, shops, tools, lost their livelihood and are staring at their dark future. This is the worst disaster in the history of Kerala. It would take years for most of these people's life to get back to near normal.
Iowa Malayali Association (IMA) along with Friends of India (FOICR) are trying to extend helping hands to the victims of this devastation.
Please donate - Kerala and it's people are in dire need of all the help it could get, to overcome this disaster...!
