Eagle Scout Project at American Legion Post 138 in Tampa, FL
Spende geschützt
My name is Quenten Erikson, I am an aspiring Eagle Scout of Troop 22 in Tampa, FL, and I plan to serve my local American Legion Post 138 in Port Tampa City, FL by fully rebuilding and refurbishing the aged outdoor stage in their pavilion. I am soliciting donations for the material costs associated with this project.
The American Legion is a vital institution that provides crucial support and camaraderie for veterans who have selflessly served our country, the families of veterans and active duty military, and the communities in which they reside. By rebuilding the outdoor stage, the project will not only improve the physical appearance and usefulness of the post's outdoor area but also be a proper memorial to the dedication and sacrifices of the Post 138 veterans who utilize this space.
The current stage is rotting and falling apart: it is unsafe and aesthetically unpleasing. The rebuild would create a more desirable venue for events and benefit the post membership. Specifically, the inclusion of stairs along the front and edges of the stage and an ADA-compliant ramp in the back ensures accessibility and maximum potential usage for all post members.
To ensure the longevity of the new stage, I have worked with several engineers and decided on pressure-treated lumber coupled with a synthetic composite material (Trex) to ensure the stage can withstand the weather adjacent to the water. In doing so, I can ensure this Eagle Project will serve the post's membership for 20+ years.
Additionally, I plan on working with the different Legion families within the post...the American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, and American Legion Riders...to ensure that the project is inclusive and representative of the entire post community, as this project is ultimately an investment in the post, so its diverse membership should have a say.
Attached are drawings to illustrate the different components of the stage's design as well as a price reference sheet to show the thought that went into picking suppliers as well as where the raised money will be specifically allocated.
I am confident that this project will significantly enhance the functionality and appeal of the outdoor stage, creating a valuable asset for Post 138 and its members. Thank you for considering my proposal, and I look forward to your support in making this vision a reality.
Of note, any GoFundMe funds above and beyond those required to conduct this project will be donated to the Evan Mario Macrone Memorial Campership Fund. This fund was established in 2017 in memory and honor of First Class Scout Evan Macrone who was a member of Pack 25 and my troop, Troop 22, in Tampa, FL. Evan died from cancer in March of 2017. The fund supports Scouts going to summer camp at Woodruff Scout Camp in Blairsville, GA who may need assistance due to financial need.
