We need a bridge!

Donation protected
Nona and Dennis Burkhart are having a hard time and we need to build a bridge of help until we can access money from their home.

As you may or may not know, Nona Burkhart has Alzheimer’s disease. She has been in decline for some time and though she remains cheery and physically able, Nona’s memory has been reduced to the shortest of times and has lost almost everyone’s names/faces.

Dennis Burkhart has been single handedly caring for Nona until last week when he was hospitalised for vomiting blood and severe pain. Dad has internal bleeding, some serious complications and will be in Corvallis Sam Hospital for at least another week. The prognosis is good, but the recovery is long and hard.

Without dad, we kids came to understand how much we need to support Dennis and Nona.

The goal is to keep Mom And Dad together for as long as possible, and to keep possession of the house while paying for all the recent medical costs for Dad.
Both of the parents are cancer survivors, and have other complications. American medicine and its costs are absurd.

These are days of tall orders.

Jon and I, as well as Lance and Stacy Chart have been at battle stations since Denny went to the first ER. It’s been a wild week or so!

I’m Kate and I’m Jon Burkhart’s wife and I’m going to be the point of contact so take some burden from Jon, Lance and Stacy. I will be living with Nona and Dennis until Dad is out of the feeding tube business and everyone is stable in new routines.

Your contribution will help us bridge the time and expense of care while we get ready to have Dennis home and Nona safely cared for.
