The Challenge

To achieve something I’ve wanted to do for years—a skydive—and raise funds for a charity that helps people with Parkinson’s Disease. It’s widely known that sport doesn’t cure the disease, but it does slow it down. Every PD sufferer should be made aware of this.

My husband Peter has had the disease for at least six years.

About Peter

He was a low handicap golfer, played golf for many teams, helped set up a golf academy, and was a golf referee for many years, working at 10 Open Championships. He had to retire due to his PD, as he found he could no longer walk 36 holes of golf in a day, would get tired easily, and developed brain fog.

He still plays 18 holes several days a week and uses a trolley rather than a buggy. He also does a weekly strength and conditioning class which has improved his flexibility.

The Charity

I’m raising money for Sport Parkinson’s CIC that helps people with Parkinson’s stay active through sport and movement. They organise inclusive events like golf tournaments, walking football, pilates, dance, and “Try-Athlon” days designed for people living with Parkinson’s.

They also offer grants to individuals and community groups, making it easier for people to access exercise and stay mobile, social, and engaged for longer.

The Big Day

I’m taking to the skies—literally—on Monday 11th August to raise awareness and funds for this brilliant cause.
