Skateboarding’s Largest Map is About to Disappear — Unless We Save It.
Five years ago, I had a crazy idea: map every skatepark in Portugal. Just for the love of skateboarding. Just for the community.
What started as one country turned into the entire world. Today, Trucks and Fins is the largest skatepark website on the planet, with more than 23,000 skateparks listed and millions of skaters using it to travel, connect, and ride.
I’ve given everything to this project — my time, my energy, and over €50,000 of my savings. I’ve visited nearly 1,000 skateparks myself to take photos, film, and make sure this isn’t just data — but a living, breathing history of skateboarding. We have an amazing community of skatepark hunters who have been helping out and together we have visited and documented 20% of all the skateparks worldwide, without support, only driven by passion. This is OUR map. Built by our community, for the community.
The Truth
I never thought I’d be here. I thought skate brands would step in and support this. But they haven’t. And now, something I never expected is happening: the project is growing too fast for me to afford.
Every click, every search, every skater using the map costs money. My monthly bills including documenting parks and website costs are in the thousands. I can’t keep up.
I don’t want to charge skaters. That’s not what skateboarding is about. This was always meant to be free, for everyone. But the truth is: I’ve hit a wall. I don’t have the money anymore to keep it alive.
Why This Matters
This is more than a map. It’s a place where skaters connect. Where travelers plan road trips. Where builders see their work recognized. It’s skateboarding’s living archive — and it’s free, because that’s how it should be.
But without help, I can’t keep it going.
How You Can Help
Your donation will directly cover the costs of keeping Trucks and Fins alive:
- Paying for the servers and API calls that keep the site online
- Make improvements to the site and add extra features
- Continuing to document parks around the world
- Making sure this stays free for skaters everywhere
Even the smallest donation makes a difference. If you’ve ever used the map to find a park, planned a trip, or just got inspired — please consider giving back.
- €10 = keeps the map online for a full day
- €10 = funds documenting one skatepark with photos (goal: 1,000 parks this year)
- €100 = funds documenting a whole new city (with around 10 parks)
Our mission doesn’t stop at keeping the world’s largest skatepark map online — we want to take it further.
Once we finish visiting and documenting all 302 skateparks in Portugal, we’ll create the first-ever printed Skatepark Guide to Portugal — a book for skaters, travelers, and the community.
The second book on our list will be Spain’s complete skatepark guide — capturing the culture, history, and hidden gems of more than 1500 skateparks.
From One Skater to Another
I love skateboarding. I love this community. That’s why I built this. But I can’t do it alone anymore.
Please donate what you can and share this with others. Let’s keep Trucks and Fins alive, free, and growing. Please don’t let this map — built from 5 years of love and sacrifice — disappear.
