My wife Tressa was diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) (also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), after having carpal tunnel surgery in 2007. RSD is considered the most painful of all chronic pain diseases.

Standard treatment (the only one covered by insurance) is high-dose pharmaceutical drugs, which unfortunately do not address the disease. This disease is not curable, but it can be put into remission with the proper treatment. Alan Neuromedical Technologies, in Houston, TX, is the only known medical facility in the United States that offers adequate treatment for RSD/CRPS.

Tressa visited this medical facility in 2012; by that time, the disease had gotten so bad that she needed a wheelchair. That did not stop Tressa, as she forged forward to endure three weeks of extensive treatment and miraculously was able to return home walking on her own accord! To get to this point, Tressa had sacrificed a great deal of her time (and savings) to manage her debilitating illness - even being forced to sell her restaurant of 15 years as she could no longer work due to the complications related to the disease.

Fast forward to 2022… and unfortunately, Tressa’s RSD has returned. She is forced to choose heavy pharmaceutical drugs because that is still the only treatment covered by insurance. This is a scary time for Tressa as she knows her quality of life will suffer as the pain will soon be too severe to handle. She is no longer riding her bike 7 miles, five days a week, or going to the gym, among many other activities that bring joy to her and our family's lives.

Tressa will once again enlist the courage needed to embark on a journey back to Texas as soon as possible to receive the treatment she so desperately needs.

We are turning to anyone who may be able to help reduce the financial burden that our family will face during this hardship. These donations will help us not only pay for the now inflated travel and medical costs - but in essence, they will help her get back to living a whole and happy life.
