Donate to Vanna's Family for Recovery and Hope
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Kim Baker. On September 26, Hurricane Helene made landfall, leaving a path of destruction that devastated one of my direct report's family. I am reaching out to my family and friends to ask for your help for Vanna, my colleague, direct report, and work friend, whose son’s family lost all material possessions. Her son, his wife and their kids are all safe, but have lost everything. To provide a little more background, the kids had been in foster care for a while until Vanna’s son and daughter-in-law adopted them this past August.
From Vanna... "My son and his family are rebounding. It is, of course, very sad and going to be a slow roll to recover with this level of destruction. The whole town of Erwin is gone for the most part. People are still missing... one sad, devastating story after another.... it has truly brought upper east Tennessee to its knees. My son and his wife had planned and prepaid for a 2-week family vacation to celebrate their family being "completed". This vacation includes a week at Disney, and they are still going. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but he said, "We are blessed, and I am not cancelling this trip for my kids, they have had enough loss, and I am doing everything I can to make this trip the best I can!" When fostering, children are not allowed out of the state, so this will be many firsts for these 5 children, and I have to say Kim, they hold my heart! He is of course will have things to deal with when he returns... but they are fine. We know many who have lost more than material things.... this has been life changing. Thank you so much for checking on me and my son."
All donations will be given directly to Vanna so she can give to her son and his family. Any amount of help will be appreciated and be put to great use.
