Donate to Spay-Neuter: Prevent a Litter, Save Lives!

Spay-Neuter League, Inc. in Terre Haute, Indiana, is a 501c3 that was founded in 1978. Due to so many requests to help pet owners, we are totally out of funds. The demand for help is so great because the price to spay one cat is about $230 plus at most vets, and far higher for dogs. We have occasional donations from supporters; in February, we will receive our funds from the Community Foundation, but that is always used up in just a few months. Normally, at least 40 or more pets are helped each month. Some of us have used our own money to help cats at a trailer park where they've been breeding, and kittens are out in the cold. There are so many more to do, however.

When funds allow, we help people with their sick or injured pet, so they are not left with the only choice, which is to have it put down. Caregivers of feral colonies also need and get help. The shelter here is so full all year that almost no cats, and few dogs are taken in due to the overbreeding. One female cat in the alley may be 30 in a year., and the TNR program here was discontinued. So many caring people need help; for example, a woman had a hungry, pregnant feral come to her door, and now there are 8 kittens from 2 litters. She is a senior, no longer drives, has limited income, and can hardly afford $2,070 to spay/neuter all the cats. The shelter will not take them. Sadly, we have to tell people like her that we can't help right now. There is little help from the city, and none from the county. A low-cost clinic left several years ago.

Citizens bear the emotional and financial burden, which is why we try never to turn anyone down who needs our help. Even the smallest donation will be a great help, and thank you so much for caring. Please do not confuse us with Spay-Neuter Services, funded from license plates.
