My name is Numa. I'm a young student who recently moved to the United States. My country, Nicaragua was a place rough to live in. My mom, sister(24) and me(16) were abandoned by my father about 2 years ago (August 2023).

My sister always sought out for the best regarding my mother and me. She has been there for the goods and the bads, playing a crucial role in supporting herself and us through her work.

My sister, Claudia:

"When we were about to leave, I had to take my computer with me to finish my work. But my HP Laptop had broken, it had broken its hinges. In Nicaragua, they don't service computers with trustworthy parts."

"I had to find a quick repair for it, so I took 60 dollars out of my savings, since we barely had money to eat, and took it to a little repair shop. They melted the plastic and put in new screws."

"I thought that was it, but then when we finally escaped from that place, it broke again."

"Since I was constantly using it and taking it everywhere, the hinges broke again. I was distraught due to the rush of finishing my thesis in time."

"My boss at the time showed me a 'reliable' and 'economic' repair place for it. Called 'Talk and Fix' in the mall 'The Fall' in Miami. Some middle eastern guy offered me a price. I was working a gym's front desk so I didn't have much money. The guy offered 260 dollar for a repai, which seemed fair especially after he said 'your computer is a tool of your work'. "

"I paid him, and he asked if I should leave it there. He told me to take it and that he would give me a call."

"I agreed to that, it was fine. He called me a couple of weeks later, which was weird, but he was fixing my computer. He said he had the parts, and I brought my computer, trusting they were gonna fix it."

"This was preventing me from finishing my thesis, all I had was my 6 generation ipad, that was super slow."

"Like a month later, the guy called and told that it was fixed. I trusted they did and was so excited about it I forgot to check. I got home and the news I got were that the keyboard didn't work now. It bummed me the hell out."

"I called the guy and he said it wasn't his fault, that they did was I asked for. Which was totally absurd??? They didn't even return my original screen with my stickers. Even though I asked for it, and I thought it was fine because maybe I was asking for too much."

"I told them that the keyboard didnt work and the guy kept telling me that he spent so much money on it to repair the screen and that he only touched the screen, hence it was weird the keyboard didn't work.

"I told him if he could fix it because it was unfair to give me a non-working computer. So, he told me to wait til the new parts arrived. That way he could 'make me happy' -- 'just for you, just to make you happy.' "

"He lied to me."

"He called me to come on a Monday, that they didn't have the parts already. back and forth they weren't ready again for a few months. I dont know how someone who fixes a computer can spend so much time on one simple issue?"

"He never called me, never fixed it and I took it to this other person who worked in the computer in front of me, which who told me it was a hardware issue, which I never imagined."

"I had my friend with me and she saw this, a very honest man. He explained to me it was better to call HP, which I spent two whole afternoons talking to. Apparently its warranty was over, and they were nice. Yet the price to repair it was 470 dollars, which I don't have. I pay rent, I pay for my family's living."

"Not too long ago, I took it to Talk and Fix, with my friend Kat."

"I was scared to make a claim to them for not fixing my computer properly."

"It's not fair that I paid for a service and they gave me another issue. It isn't fair, I just want to do my job, I just want to do my work."

"I tried to be very firm, too firm- my friwnd said. This guy said he would fix it for me, and about two weeks later, he calls me and tells me my computer is ready."

"Saying I could come pick it up, that's today, expecting my computer to work. Just for the guy to tell me that my problem is that I had not installed windows 10, but 11. Which is stupid!!!"

"If you know what the issue is, why dont you fix it? Why are you telling me this, you're giving me my computer that I asked yo be fixed, broken."

"They kept claiming I made a mistake, that it was my fault. Im paying you for a service, why are you blaming it on me for your flaw?"

"So.. Yeah.. I want to fix this computer. I could sell it, whether its money we use for food or just living."

"A friend bought me a computer, but it's faulty with my job area, graphic design."

"I regret taking it to this place, I would have preferred keeping the broken hinges than taking it there. 620 dollars I have spent. I might as well buy a new computer. Hell, I lost job opportunities because of this delay."

"I just want my keyboard. I just want my computer. I just want my job."

Please, from a person who just wants to live a peaceful life, I ask for help.

My sister is a hardworking girl who just wants to give me a hand on my future, and I worry about her. If any kind soul out there is willing to help, I would be happy.
