Protect Alaa Adwan's Family in Gaza - Fundraiser by Rebecca
Donation protected
My name is Rebecca and I'm fundraising on behalf of the Adwan Family. Alaa and Mohammed Adwan and their three children, Suhaila, Zeina, and Sahar used to live in Rafah, Gaza. After Israel destroyed their home and occupied their city, they, like millions of others, had to evacuate to al-Mawasi slightly to the north. In the last year, they have had to flee from bombs, tanks, and soldiers multiple times. With each displacement conditions have worsened. Now they live in crowded refugee camps in makeshift tents, exposed to the sun, wind, rain, and sand all day and night.
Before all this, Alaa was studying to become an interior designer and had one year left at university. She had dreams of a normal life. Now, that same university has been completely leveled by U.S.-made bombs; the only interior design she can do is within the walls of a nylon tent. All she dreams of is to live in peace and safety with her children. Sahar is only 18 months old and has asthma, which has only been made worse by famine and extremely poor air quality due to the constant bombing. Conditions are truly apocalyptic for the people of Gaza. Alaa, having witnessed horrors such as her neighbors burning alive, sits up late at night worrying about her family’s future, unable to sleep.
On November 13th, 2024, Israel dropped a bomb down the street from where Alaa lives, and a burning piece of scrap fell into their family’s tents, burning everything to the ground in minutes. Fortunately the entire Adwan family escaped death, but replacement costs for what few belongings they had left exceeded $5000. Alaa finds herself in an extremely dire situation with no infrastructure, and no options for work - the Adwan family relies on donations to survive. They do not want to be in this position, but this is the reality they were forced into, and our taxes are funding that reality. Our disconnected lifestyles make this level of human suffering possible.
We invite you to use whatever means you have at your disposal to aid this family who simply wants to live their lives in peace. Any amount, big or small, truly adds up. The majority of donations to successful fundraising campaigns are only $5-10, so if that’s all you can give then it seriously is better than nothing. If you can’t donate, please share this link with at least one person who might be able to do so. This family’s survival is itself resistance in the face of an enemy who seeks their people’s total annihilation, and your support means everything to them.
