Support for Jessica’s Medical Recovery

Hi! My name is Jessica and I am in need of financial support for my medical expenses and recovery, including travel expenses for cardiac rehab and follow-up appointments. I need open-heart surgery to repair a congenital defect in my heart. In this case, it means I was born with an artery in my heart that grows out of the wrong spot. It’s called anomalous origin of the right coronary artery.

The surgery procedure is called “unroofing” and it opens up the arterial wall (basically) so blood can flow through my heart.

If I don’t get the surgery, I could suffer sudden cardiac death due to pressure on the artery. One of the worst parts about this condition is that I can’t exert myself, which means no activity that’s more strenuous than a walk (and often that’s difficult!).

This means that I miss out on my favorite activities, such as hikes with my family and dogs.

I will be missing out on work… and life, in general. Even though I work from home (I teach international high school and college students online), I will still be missing out of work for a couple of months.

I’m not gonna lie— my loss of income, autonomy, and basic loss of being able to do anything productive for a few months will be felt… big time.
