I'm writing with a heavy heart, to share that my dear friend, Pte. Hayden Lykkemark, tragically passed away on October 17, 2026, Lyk was involved in a training accident that claimed the lives of at least four people, including himself, at CFB Wainwright. 

Lyk and I were friends before we joined the army in our final year of high school. We played rugby together and, after high school, we both decided to join the army together. We were fortunate enough to be on the same platoon for basic training. He was a true soldier who held the military values in high regard. He supported everyone around him and always boosted morale. Lyk was always there to help his family, especially his brothers.
