Support my sister’s recovery from Guillain-Barré syndrome

Hi,

My name is Purti Sadhwani and I am raising funds for my younger sister, Mahak Sadhwani who is suffering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). The family has done all it can to collect the total amount required for the treatment but we need more funds to pay it as it is long and uncertain.

The treatment is being done in India, we do not have a compulsory health insurance policy here. Moreover Mahak was living in Germany for last 3 years and therefore did not have an Indian health insurance.

Mahak is full of life, likes to paint and loves solving problems in physics. She has always been a brilliant child, and completed masters in Physics form University of Cologne and was applying for a PhD in top programs when GBS struck. She was on a ventilator for four weeks and is facing tremendous difficulty.

She suffered from Tuberculosis meningitis in 2023 and was on her way to full recovery from it when the aforementioned syndrome hit. Her journey through the last illness was exhausting and very painful for her and her family.

UPDATE (09.12.2024)

Mahak is going through an extremely slow recovery process now. We are almost a month down and she can move her toes a little. Her hand movement is nil. But we are hopeful and keeping our spirits up. She is also practicing to breathe on her own but the fear and anxiety of loosing her breath is a big hurdle.

Another big issue as mentioned by doctors is getting infected from the hospital itself as it has been a long stay.

The doctors are very vigilant about it and monitoring her closely.

She will be needing regular physiotherapy for her recovery, she is getting physiotherapy in the hospital at the moment but it is a long process and can take upto several months. We also have to look for a suitable physiotherapy clinic for Mahak.

And therefore we are in need of funds accordingly.
