Help Eliska get a life saving kidney transplant

Hi my name is Paul, and together with my family we are fundraising to help my step- daughter Eliska receive a life-saving kidney transplant.

One year ago, our life changed forever, when our precious 9-year-old daughter was diagnosed with end stage renal failure. Eliska’s life was gravely in danger, as her kidney function dropped to 5%. She was admitted into ICU, and received multiple blood transfusions before starting dialysis, which she receives 3 times per week to keep her alive.

Eliska was diagnosed with a very rare, incurable genetic condition, Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) which causes hundreds of tiny cysts to form on the kidneys. The dialysis she receives, can only maintain her life for so long, or until she can receive a life changing kidney transplant.

Without a transplant, Eliska cannot continue to fully develop physically or mentally, and she will inevitably suffer life-threatening complications with longer-term dialysis.

In Eliska’s situation, a living organ transplant gives the highest chances of success, however it is not possible in her case to undergo a living transplant in Slovakia, where we live. In Slovakia, only living donations are permitted from close relations, and Eliska does not share the same blood group as her biological parents or nearest relatives.

Thankfully, a wonderfully kind altruistic donor has come forward to help Eliska by donating a kidney. To make this become a reality, we now need to raise funds for the surgery to take place abroad.

The funds raised will be used to help cover the cost of the surgery, translation of medical records, travel and accommodation and any follow-up care and medicine required. The funds will be held in a transparent account ensuring complete visibility of the usage.

Despite all the great challenges she faces, we have great hopes for Eliska’s future. She is a beautiful, bright and talented girl, with a flair for art, cooking and a love for animals.

With your help we will make sure her promising future becomes her reality.
