Donate to Help Drummer Charlie Korch

In his own words, longtime Atlanta favorite drummer, Charlie Korch, sends this message to friends, family and fellow professionals:

" I have been suffering from Lymphadema for 25 years. Over the past few years, it has become so advanced that I am losing my mobility to the point that I have been unable to work, and to even do simple tasks like walking up stairs, getting into my car, or even getting into bed without assistance.

The doctors have looked into facilities that should be able to help me greatly, but my insurance company constantly has denied my treatment. I am currently in Northside Hospital in Atlanta, and they are helping me, but further help at additional facilities will be required.

My lympadema has led to open wounds that refuse to heal, and infections that can be deadly. The swelling in my legs has gotten so bad that I have been told to consider having my legs amputated. I refuse to accept that route, and have gotten a second opinion. I have been told, I will never be healed, and that I have this disease for life, but that with the proper treatment I should be able to manage the disease enough to be able to at least get back to caring for myself.

So many friends have asked me what they can do to help. The outpouring of love has been amazing. I can't believe how many people have been praying for and reaching out to me. Thank you all for your support."
