Hello, I'm Daniel. I'm a 35 year old software developer, and I have suffered from spine issues since I was young. Starting with an advanced L5-S1 disc herniation, degenerative disc disease, and S-shaped scoliosis that made it difficult to walk, I managed to live a somewhat normal life through spine surgery, intense weight loss, strength training, and stretching - losing over 140lbs through diet and exercise alone. Unfortunately, in this last 14 months much of the progress and ability to enjoy life I fought so hard for has vanished - starting with me being T-boned in an intersection by a driver running a red light in January of last year. A few months later, I was let go from my job, unable to perform. Since the car accident, my spine has taken a turn for the worse and despite my best efforts and a comprehensive physical therapy, chiropractic, and pain management regiment it has failed to show any major improvement.
There are two options left - one is to have a major spinal fusion procedure. Unfortunately due to the disc degeneration that affects a large portion of my spine, the extra pressure could cause even more failure on the remaining portions.
The other option that I am pursuing is to visit a physical therapy clinic that specialized in scoliosis via the Schroth Method. As luck would have it, there's only one such clinic in Austin - Scolio Austin, and they accept only cash payments.
Meanwhile, anyone in the tech industry can vouch that it's an extremely difficult job market - even for healthy people. So between having difficulty getting deep rest at night, excruciating pain, and even mental health issues as a result, I have found it impossible to come up with the money.
I'm asking earnestly for any help that you can spare. The consultation runs $225 and each treatment runs between $130-$170. I'm seeking 4 months of treatment at 2 visits per week, which totals to about $5000. But any amount would certainly help me and my wife, and you have my heartfelt gratitude. Thank you so much, and please be careful on the road.
